400 Years of Winter

Where do we go from here?
How many more tears until we rise from our fears?
Dreams usually take years, but zero tolerance for hate
brings us to what we have here.
Not sure if the masses really want change.
Seems like our benzes and gucci bags have us blinded
right underneath our wishes of fame.
We all want a piece of the cake,
but sometimes we just don't need it.
Educated just to work for someone else.
Educated just to carry another man's burden.
It's scary how we get caught up in the whirlwinds of political genocide
and they blame our communities for the countless homicides.
They scrutinize us for wanting the freedoms we've always been denied
Yet we have to depend on these 9-5's,
just to have the necessities to stay alive.
Seems like we're not too far removed from the chains and the slave ships.
Lack of education leaves our brothers in the industrial revolution of prison economics.
I guess we really are still a people praying to be released from bondage.
How many more days until the day of judgement is near?
How can we get our souls right when we're forced to churn Babylon's wheels?
How much longer will we continue to be in a slumber?
I hope my people wake up from the complacencies their living under.

America

The love in my heart has no color.
The peace in my mind has no color.
Yet the ignorance of the character only sees color.
I'm tired of "white is right"
I'm tired of "black don't crack"
It’s the negativity in our lives that holds us back.
If money is money and trade is trade;
Don't tell me a college education is the bettering of me still working to be a slave.
As sure as the Lord giveth, is as sure as the Lord taketh away.
But afraid are they of their exploitations, soon they will collapse in their disgrace.
What happened to purity and honesty?
What happened to disobedience and deceit?
Are they all cooked in the same pot of getting it how you live
or because everyone else is doing it, it's alright with me?
I don't want a million dollars.
Just give me understanding, knowledge and peace.
Give me truth, loyalty and freedom.
Give me a system that truly embodies  equality in all its degrees.
How dare a nation contradict its founding principles and beliefs!
How deep is the greed of your powerless minds?
Please tell me how am I to be successful,
When this system was built not for every man to thrive but only the "exceptions".
Life is hard enough losing a loved one,
Why must we still encounter these hates and prejudices?
How many blacks must be persecuted by cops for the lack of leadership in this nation to be addressed?
Where are those strong leaders that once existed amongst us downtrodden people?
Was Willie Lynch successful, did he ultimately succeed?
No longer are we tarred and feathered;
It only takes a bullet for a mother to hide her child to keep from grief.
Maybe separation is the new solution,
For segregation is still preventing us from where we need to be.
I pray God comes tomorrow, because this hell on earth must cease.

What am I to do?

What am I to do?

When the world tells me there’s no hope for you.
Just a small percentage of a population
Yet my vote will change the next generation
See the lies they tell have gotten you blind as well
Maybe I should party hard and not have a care
Then I’ll find my self living in their hell.
What am I to do?

I see planes crashing in the news
I hear people are hiding nuclear bombs to use
And every time I see another black man in the news
He’s either abusing or being abused
I guess the only reason it comes on the TV
Is because he’s not representing their money properly
What am I to do?

See they told me Jesus was white
And my brown skin was black
I guess like they threw away the original statue of liberty
Is the same way they hung Jesus on that cross
So much for unsolved mysteries
What am I to do?

They gave us greek gods to forget who we was
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Told us to get 9 to 5’s and become somebody
We opted to make our own story
Then they gave us the guns and drugs and labeled us as thugs
Yet we live under the same sun
What are we to do?

Free or Fooled

The only thing in life I’ve ever wanted to be was free.
Free from worry
Free from pain
Free from anything that wasn’t for me.
I prayed to be free like a bird so I could fly far, far away.
But when I opened my eyes I was still stuck in this decay.
See they started with my skin for it wasn’t of the same breed
My hair wasn’t black enough amongst those who shared my same creed
Seasons came and went and then I became accepted
Just a poor innocent child who never wanted to feel neglected
Those days still haunt my mind no matter how far I’ve come
Now I’m attacked for my independents thoughts in a war that’s not my own
And when I stand up for my fellow man, they still claim I’m not black
It seems like there’s no place for a mixed kid on either side of the tracks
I was born in oppression even though I choose not to live there
In my heart I just want to save my people from causing our own deaths
Why can’t we come together and unite for the empowering of our own
We can be who we want to be, we don’t have to follow anyone else’s road
Are our dreams really ours or what they want us to do?
If only we had the all answers on how to not be fools.

Revolutionary Poetry

Open your eyes and tell me what you see
I see a bunch of hypocrites including me
I see a bunch of wash-ups making second efforts to turn new leaves
I see blood stained hands for the ones we didn't feed
It's a new dawn and a new day
Waking up to the same old shenanigans
Playing with death again
What if Luke followed the path of Anakin
How much deeper will we choose to be lost
Choose to be oppressed
Choose to feel insecure because of someone else's happiness
Don't steal my joy
Dont steal the lives of the youth
Train a child and he will not depart
Forget the child and he will break your heart
Revolutionaries are always dreams away
Until they grow up and see there's no stop to our moral decay
We cast the stones that are thrown at us
And we're searching for the chains trying to lock us back up
How is it that you can live in fear
When you know the devil is always near
Build positivity into your soul
Your eyes are your windows close them to the wickedness of the world
I write these words understanding they will fall on deaf ears
Is it even worth crying out if no one is really here
Absent minded, brainwashed by false pain and greed
Brainwashed into the lies they want us to believe
Public servants have us on the edge of our seats
They work for us, yet our brothers are the ones who get attacked and beat
Wars and rumors of wars leave us in a state of unease
Economies unstable like sand beneath our feet
The earth is crying out and telling us to change our ways
Yet we sit in shock when thousands are killed by tsunami waves
We sell our souls for touch screen phones, expensive clothes and J's that are "retro"
So please take these words and tell me what you see
I'm just as responsible for you as you are for me.

Con·scious·ness

Speak from your soul
Feel with your heart
Love in your actions
We were made in the likeness of God
Destroy not your mind
Live within positivity
Don't get lost in this times monotony.

Half Different

I wonder how many white people look me in my face and in their minds call me a nigger

I remember growing up being the outcast by the other black kids in elementary school because I looked more indian

Half n half

Descendant of slaves on both sides

A part of a generation lost in translation

My skin tone dictates that I am not of privilege

My facial hair depicts I am a terror in image

Some laugh because they know the kindness of my heart

Some are of afraid because I am not intimidated by who they are

A tall skinny kid

With dreams and ambitions

I wasn't supposed to become anything in this life

All because I am different.

Fiends of the System

Why would any person give into the system?
Materialism, drug abuse, complacency
As a child you are told to dream
Dream for the biggest house, the fanciest car, the best clothes
Give the people fast cash with no tax, trap them in poverty stricken area codes
Temporary fixes because tomorrow isn't promised
Lifetime prison sentence due to the hustle of narcotics
Win for today but lose for forever
Go to school and pay the government until the day you die
Do those degrees keep you warm when you're struggling to survive?
How will you ever pay those thousands of borrowed dollars just for a piece of paper
White collar jobs aren't for all the young black and gifted
Education, segregation, whats your interpretation
We will always remain niggers in suits no matter how far we've come
The pale skin still has you bought into the system in which you thought you had overcome.
Chant down babylon
Tear down the societal walls
Boycott against the dreams which were never yours
They will never know the hour or day when judgement will be upon us
Rise up and take a stand for only your soul can be saved
These skin and bones are temporary
Don't let your selfish oughts be the reason you die in vain.
