Relief Not Peace

If I cast the first stone I hope one doesn't hit me back
That's the way we live
That's the time we give
Am I worth it
I know I'm not perfect
Spent a lot of time watching dreams seem so surface
So substantial
So consequential
Can I live or am I trying to live through
See my doubts are far gone
And I quit thinking about my fears
Its my time to be strong
Real men equate to real tears
See my weakness was I couldn't break through
The only difference is there's nothing I can't do
And these witnesses feel like I'm untouchable
The world sees the unblemished
My minds on fire never to be extinguished
The worst they could do was to teach me english
The persecution of a child's heart should make you feel squeamish
Dumb down a nation
Make us all aloof
Upgrade the enemies
Send off more troops
Feed us the lies
Ease us with the pills
Line us all up
We all chase the dollar bills
We'll kill for the right of the 5th
But die at the hands of the 47
While the top 10 hide amidst the thorns leaving us abandoned
Its the nights that are the hottest
During the days we work alone
Brick by brick
Bone for bone
No man's land means no man's throne
Give us free
We need relief
No such thing as peace
There's only trust and belief.

Black Dignified

They say black is the disease
Black can't see
Black ain't a color
Black is empty beliefs
Yea black ain't free
And black ain't cheap
Black can't breathe
Black belongs to me
Watch the losers thrive
Watch the ignorant die
Irrationalities combat the liberalities
When the sun don't shine
The mediocre crash mid-flight
And you hear no one cry
Never shown the essentials
Never stopped the insults
Climbing to the top of the world
Just to satisfy all that's mental
New days but old times
Still the discriminations arise
Equal isn't enough reparation
Behind those closed doors
Faces are constantly reflecting
The embrace of the cold hearts
Stalling the fight of righting all wrongs
The fearful are the illiterate
The fearful will soon forfeit
Happy eyes should never be taken for granted
Tear filled eyes from mother's praying their child makes it
Their happiness lifts them higher than the break in the clouds
Yet chains are made just to bring us back down
Fighting to break the system
Fleeing for the income
Searching for the basics
Cause our basis has never been much
Factual illusions
Inflect the restitution
Oppression brings the nooses
Progression changes our nuisance
The hunger keeps the heart alive
The hunger keeps the raisins dry
We can't be satisfied
We must be ratified
From the day we're born
Until the day we die
Black will always be dignified.

Tomorrow, Today

If I write about love
If I write about God
If I write my truths
If i write my lies
If I right my life would it end tonight
If I write about the light, will the sun not shine
If I write about hope will the believers cease
If I write about troubles will the preachers, preach
Will the teachers still teacher
Will slaves still be beat
Will the drums cry out
Will history still shout
Or will they still cover up the wrongs
Or not reveal the psalms
Reading blank palms
Creating new wrongs
See the scars are still scarred
And the faith carries on
And redemption forgives the hearts
For the work is always hard
For the ignorance presses on
These days are faded until they're gone
New dreams will spawn
Quill and ink still respond
What's destined will march on
All before tomorrow begins to yawn.
